NH: Evolution

Nehmen Aber Zurückgeben, Alan Zurückgeben and Plekti Zurückgeben, all lined up. I wanted to see the differences in their designs. In the end, their poses came to tell something of their personalities as well.

Design
Nehmen was my third fancharacter ever. I didn't draw any studies back then, no "fifty versions to see which one was the best". I just drew him and that was it. I was fortunate because somehow the design doesn't suck balls. Radiant colours aren't my thing and Nehmen sports the whole spectrum - brown, red, orange, yellow, green and blue - but it worked out, so I'm happy with that.
Alan was very hard to design. As the son of Nehmen and Caline, he was supposed to be a combination of both. But I just couldn't find a way combine the two colour schemes together! It was so frustrating. Pooky's suggestion that Alan could look like a clone of Nehmen, with some minor changes, was a huge relief. If I were to be honest, I don't find Alan's (or Plekti's for that matter) design as good as Nehmen's. The colours clash on Alan. I think it's because his clothes is mostly blue and "touches" the orange skin directly.
I find Plekti's huge sweater hilarious. Plekti is a little thinner than Alan or Nehmen and the sweater makes him look even more thin. I'm fairly sure that his stems couldn't be plaited like this in reality. But, oh well.
On the common groud, all three of Nehmen's evolution share the same height and skin tone. They've all got brown fingers and constant colour scheme. One thing that changes is the lip colour - while Nehmen has brown lips, all the others have red lips. On another note, Alan is the only one who has kings' marks (brown pads on his shoulders). And, finally, Plekti has a spike in the middle of his chest, while all the others have a button.

Personality
Even though all three Hoodians are of the same height, they appear taller or shorter according to their posture, which has a lot to do with their personality.
Nehmen is selfish and carefree. He reckons that he's the best in the whole world and that he's, indeed, the centre of the universe. He likes having fun, hates boredom and his moods are subject to extreme and sudden flings. For some reason, people like him. I have no idea why, he's scores among the three biggest bastards I've ever created. And not just because of his cleptomania.
Alan is quite the opposite of Nehmen. He's always collected and calm, preferring rational thinking over being emotional. He isn't very bright or creative, but (or maybe because of this?) he's very loyal and a good friend. Alan chose to leave his homeland to serve the twin princes of Brokenhood, which broke his father's heart. Nehmen never really got over that betrayal, but Alan knows that his place is elsewhere. It's a sad story, really.
Surprisingly, Plekti has managed to be different from both the polar opposites which are his ancestors. See, Plekti is weird. Nehmen and Alan are more or less understandable characters, but nobody knows what goes around in Plekti's head. The two-stem claims to see fairies and spirits and he frequently talks to them. It's debatable whether he prefers animals over Hoodians. As the only of the Nehmen lineage, Plekti was born as a little child. And he could speak from the day he was born, which creeped everyone out.

Ah... I wrote a lot. Nevermind. Hey you guys, which of the evolution line would you prefer on your team? Nehmen, Alan or Plekti?

Oh, and would you look at that? Shading! I even paid attention whether it looks realistic this time! And because of that I spent twice as much time on it!
